The purpose of our Partners In Productivity (“PIP”) project,
a Success By 6 initiative, is to partner with local Greenville
employers to focus on “work-life balance/family friendly” strategies
and practices that can benefit their own workplace, while
simultaneously strengthening community-wide child care and/or early
childhood education goals.
We’ve all heard the expression “win-win” – this Partners in
Productivity project goes well beyond that… It’s win-win-win-win in
terms of participating organizations, their employees, our vibrant
community as a whole and, of course, Greenville’s children.

What PIP employers
can expect:
-
Leadership
Seminar.
An informative, one-hour session for senior leadership
designed to highlight the business case for a family friendly
organizational culture, as well as the state of early child care
in our community and its resulting impact on both our current and
future workforce.
-
An illuminating one-hour Employee Session entitled “Identifying
Quality Child Care/Making Child Care Less Taxing.”
PIP Employers also have the opportunity to offer your employees a
number of sessions related to Child Development & Winning
Parenting Techniques. Additionally, we, of course, are very
flexible in terms of the employer’s scheduling needs for these
sessions – mornings, lunch-and-learn sessions, afternoons,
evenings, weekdays or weekends – whatever works best for the
organization and their workforce.
-
The
organization’s own Family Friendly Workplace Assessment.
An incredibly important tool, this fully customizable survey
has three objectives:
1.
To provide
an employee assessment of the perceived support for work-life
balance issues the organization’s employees face.
2.
To explore
how family responsibilities are most likely to impact their own
employees’ ability to do their work.
3. To
obtain their workforce’s input on prospective services and policies
that may have the potential to improve the ability of employees to
balance work & family responsibilities.
We also prepare a detailed and confidential summary report and
present Key Findings/Implications for Action to the organization’s
leadership.
-
The
opportunity to provide the organization Expectant Parent
Information Packets for their employees who are expecting new
arrivals. The packets include a congratulatory letter from
the organization and a copy of Understanding Children - a thorough
and insightful guide designed to provide parents with essential
information concerning prenatal stages and childbirth, navigating
“new parenthood” and addressing parenting issues relating to
nurturing and raising a child in those early, yet critical years
of life: from birth to three years old. Additional materials
contained within the this packet include:
– Information
on our area’s Child Care Resource & Referral agency
– “Child
Care Checklist” – an extremely helpful resource to assistparents
when choosing child care
–
Credit Where Credit Is Due - a very “reader-friendly” (really!) and
worthwhile guide to four tax provisions in the federal income tax
code designed assist families
–
And much
more…
The Expectant
Parent Information Packets are optional and are made available to
you for an “at-cost” fee of $12 per packet.
-
With our own HR
professional dedicated to our Partners in Productivity project, we
are able to offer our partner employers assistance as needed
with implementing new family friendly practices.
-
Each
PIP employer receives an Employer Resource Binder
packed with insightful and informative “work-life balance/family
friendly” research and employer tools.
-

There are no fees
to participate in this project
(with the exception of the additional – and optional
– Child Development & Winning Parenting Techniques employee
sessions which can be provided for a very minimal fee per session
and the Expectant Parent Information Packets – also optional – for
an at-cost fee of $12 per packet). However, we do ask two things
of our PIP employers:
1. A minimum of one addition to current family friendly
policies and
practices
(the
organization’s choice, of course); and
2. That the participating organization considers ways it could
help
United Way’s
Success By 6 get the message out that the early
years are
valuable learning opportunities and that
selecting
quality child care must be a priority for our
community.
