The Physician's Initiative was created to help Greenville area doctors and their spouses become more informed about and involved with the United Way with emphasis on giving at the Palmetto Society level.

Physicians, like many others, volunteer and give much care for those in need. Through the leadership of Dr. Wallace Fridy and Dr. Stephen Ridgeway, the physician community was asked to make Palmetto Society level contributions to help health and human service projects throughout Greenville County. Membership reached 137 members in 2005 with $245,000 in contributions.
