Volunteer

Thank you volunteers!

Registration for Hands On Greenville (HOG) Day 2011 is now closed. We've had a record number of teams to sign up and are excited to announce that this year's HOG Day on April 30th is shaping up to be the biggest one ever!

If you weren't able to sign up for this year, it's not too early to get on the waiting list for next year. Just click here to send us an e-mail, or call us at 242-4224 and we'll get you on the list for next year.

Or, if you don't want to wait a whole year, the reality is that every day there are numerous volunteer needs throughout our community. Check out our project calendar for opportunities throughout the year. We're confident that you will find the perfect volunteer project.

Mark your calendar now for Saturday, April 30, and participate in HOG Day 2011 – the largest day of service in Upstate South Carolina.

Last year, more than 5,427 HOG Day volunteers joined together to complete 305 projects at 102 local nonprofit agencies, schools, communities, parks and nursing homes. This made an economic impact of $449,712 in our community on one single day!

For HOG Day 2011, volunteers will once again spread out across Greenville County to work on a wide variety of community projects. We'll repair cabins at campgrounds for the disabled, paint playground equipment and murals at our public schools, landscape the grounds of local shelters, and beautify nearby state and city parks. Companies large and small will create teams to participate and reap the benefits of teamwork, camaraderie and the feeling of making a difference.

Everyone is welcome!
Attendance is expected top more than 6,000 volunteers from Greenville's corporations, churches, schools, and professional and civic organizations. Teams of friends, neighbors and other community-minded individuals will also be formed. This event is “family friendly,” as children as young as 8 years old can attend when accompanied by a parent or other adult.

When
On Saturday, April 30, registration will take place at each project site from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Projects will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a thank-you celebration and lunch held at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville.

Where
Service projects for HOG Day will take place at approximately 90 sites throughout Greenville County, including emergency shelters, public schools, group homes, playgrounds, parks, food banks and soup kitchens.

Hands On Greenville Day has three goals:

  • To provide 12,000 hours of community service in a single day
  • To raise funds to help Hands On Greenville continue its year-round mission of creating meaningful volunteer opportunities
  • To promote the spirit of volunteerism and demonstrate the power of community service.
