United Way Be a Bunny program collects more than 1,700 Easter baskets
The spring season will be a little bit brighter this year
for hundreds of local children and seniors thanks to individuals and companies
who participated in United Way of Greenville County’s “Be a Bunny” program.
Employees at 54 Greenville County companies rallied around this year’s Be a Bunny effort, collecting more than 1,700 Easter baskets for children from low-income families, children with special needs, and senior citizens.
Baskets, stuffed with a variety of treats, toys and personal care items, were collected and then distributed to 18 local agencies.
Agencies that received baskets to distribute to children and senior citizens include: A Child's Haven, Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Center for Developmental Services, Communities in Schools, Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network, Greenville County Disabilities and Special Needs, Greenville Housing Authority- Scott Towers, Greenville Rape Crisis/ Child Abuse Center, Greer Relief, Meyer Center for Special Children, Greenville City Community Centers, Pleasant Valley Connection, Safe Harbor, Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, SHARE Headstart, Urban League of the Upstate, and YMCA Judson Community Center.
Now in its thirteenth year, the Be a Bunny program began in 1999 as a way to build upon the cheer and goodwill so often shared during the winter holiday season, and extend it to children and seniors throughout the year.Companies that participated in the 2011 Be a Bunny program are:
