Community to Celebrate "Week of the Young Child" April 19-25
United Way Child Care Resource & Referral asks Greenville County to come together for children during the Week of the Young Child Sunday, April 19 – Saturday April 25, 2009. As part of the National Week of the Young Child celebrated across the country, Greenville County is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives.
“All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and Greenville County has a great opportunity to do our part to help young children,” said Sherrie Dueno, director of Child Care Resource & Referral. “Week of the Young Child is time to recognize the importance of early learning for all young children, and to bring Greenville County together to help give all young children a great start.”
The Week of the Young Child activities include Infant Brain Development workshop on Tuesday, April 21st at United Way of Greenville County, 105 Edinburgh Court 6:30pm – 8:30pm, a Book Fair Thursday, April 23rd – Saturday, April 25th 9:00am – 10:00pm and Literacy workshop “Reading Matters” on Saturday, April 25th 10:00am – 11:00am at Barnes & Noble Books store 735 Haywood Road.

"Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children."
ABOUT NATIONAL WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD:
Week of the Young Child is sponsored by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC). It is an opportunity for early
childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head
Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities
to bring awareness to the needs of young children.
