HOG receives Fall for Greenville funds
United Way Hands On Greenville was one of six local nonprofits selected to receive a portion of the proceeds from last October's St. Francis Fall for Greenville festival.
During a check presentation Wednesday, Hands On Greenville and Greenville Rape Crisis and Child Abuse Center each received $7,500, while Harvest Hope Food Bank, Loaves and Fishes, Project Host and St. Francis Foundation each received $5,000.
“We are thrilled to share the success of last year’s event with such
worthy nonprofit organizations that strive to make meaningful and
substantial changes in our community,” said Judy
Balsizer, 2010 president of the Fall for Greenville board.
“United Way Hands On Greenville’s mission is to provide leadership in building a caring community of engaged citizens who make a real, meaningful difference through volunteerism,” said Hands On Greenville spokesperson Mike Posey. “Funds from St. Francis Fall for Greenville will support efforts to provide individuals, families, and corporate and community groups with flexible volunteer opportunities at more than 300 local service organizations. Our sincere thanks to the Fall for Greenville Board and to everyone who came out and made Fall For Greenville 2010 a tremendous success.”
The 2011 is scheduled for Oct. 14-16, and will mark the event's 30th anniversary.
