United Way "Be a Bunny" Project Provides 1,800 Children and Senior Citizens with Easter Baskets

 The goal of the United Way “Be a Bunny” program is to provide Easter Baskets, filled with goodies and personal items, to children from low-income families, children with special needs, and senior citizens identified by area nonprofit organizations.

Children in need and homebound senior citizens are often the recipients of a great deal of “holiday spirit” during Thanksgiving and Christmas.  However, for many of these individuals, the rest of the year isn’t nearly as cheerful or hopeful.  United Way of Greenville County asked local companies to participate in a program that builds upon and extends generosity throughout other times of the year. 

All totaled, over 1,800 baskets were collected through the program this year.  Eighteen agencies received baskets from United Way that they distributed to their children or seniors.  Children and senior citizens received the baskets through various agencies in Greenville County (including among others A Child’s Haven, Salvation Army Boys’ and Girls’ Club, Meyer Center for Special Children, Communities in Schools, SHARE, Phillis Wheatley Association and Urban League of the Upstate).

United Way is extremely appreciative of the outstanding support shown by the 64 local companies and organizations who participated in this year’s project by providing baskets.
