Help United Way Provide School Supplies to Underprivileged Elementary and Middle School Students

Giving kids the tools they need to succeed in school – and in life. That’s the ultimate goal of United Way/BI-LO “School Tools” - a program designed to give students of low-income families a great start to the school year by providing a “School Tools” bag filled with school supplies.

United Way, through assistance from Greenville County Schools, has been given the names of 3,700 students that have qualified for School Tools. These students are from low-income families and might not have the opportunity to get the supplies they need to begin the school year.

If you’d like to provide a bag of supplies to an underprivileged child, simply fill a grocery bag with supplies from the list below. You can drop off a filled bag to the United Way office at 105 Edinburgh Court, Greenville SC by August 1, 2008. Or you can call United Way at 467-3333 for more information.

Please note: all students will be given a back pack as part of this year’s “School Tools” project.  Therefore, your employees will not need to purchase back packs for students. Instead they can focus their efforts on filling a “School Tools” bag with school supplies.
