United Way of Greenville County Announces Dick Wilkerson as 2010 Campaign Chairman

United Way of Greenville County's Board of Trustees announced today that Richard (Dick) Wilkerson, chairman and president of Michelin North America, Inc., has agreed to serve as Campaign vice chairman in 2009 and then as Campaign chairman in 2010.

For many years, the generosity and giving spirit of Michelin North America and its employees has made their workplace campaign the largest in Greenville County. In 2008, Michelin employees contributed a record amount of more than $773,900 to United Way. These contributions, when coupled with a generous corporate gift, resulted in a grand total of over $959,700 in United Way contributions during the 2008 campaign.

"At Michelin, giving back to the communities where we work and live through organizations such as United Way is a priority. Our long tradition of community involvement remains a great source of pride for Michelin employees," said Wilkerson. "I look forward to leading United Way's fund-raising effort in 2010 and am honored to represent Michelin as we continue our ongoing commitment to this great community."

"Michelin North America and its employees are important partners for United Way of Greenville County," said Tami McKnew, 2008 United Way Board chairman. "We appreciate their long-standing and generous support and we are excited to have Dick Wilkerson's leadership during the 2009 and 2010 United Way campaigns."

Mr. Wilkerson has spent 28 years with Michelin in manufacturing and personnel positions in the United States, France and Scotland. Before his position in personnel, he was chief operating officer for the company's North American specialty tire product lines. He previously had served as head of Michelin's Earthmover tire business in North America and head of the Earthmover original equipment business worldwide.

In addition to his support of United Way of Greenville County, Mr. Wilkerson is active in the Greenville County community, having served on the boards of the Greenville Urban League, the Chamber of Commerce, the University Center and the Greenville Symphony.
