their 11th annual YP Summer Celebration Friday, Aug. 20, at the Wyche
Pavilion in downtown Greenville.
Members of United Way's African American Leadership recently volunteered
for an afternoon of one-on-one "Speed Mentoring" with students enrolled
in Graduate Greenville's summer enrichment program.
Palmetto Society, United Way's leadership giving recognition group, honored its members with a special celebration June 5 at the new Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Greenville.
United Way of Greenville County hosted more than 950
volunteers and supporters during its Annual Meeting and Campaign Awards
Celebration Tuesday, highlighting the work the local nonprofit has done
throughout the year and recognizing the support it received from more than
38,000 donors and 700 companies during its 2009 community campaign.
United Way of Greenville County raised
its third highest total ever during its 2009 community campaign at more than
$14 million. The final tally of $14,057,213 was revealed during a special
luncheon Nov. 12 celebrating the work and contributions of more than 700
workplaces, 1,300 volunteers and 40,000 donors in the community.
The 2009 "Women Make a Difference: Wear One, Bring
One" luncheon was held Sept. 23 at the Carolina First Center in
Greenville. More than 600 women philanthropists attended the event, which
included a keynote address by Elizabeth Fleming, president of Converse
College.

community campaign with a special luncheon Sept. 2 at the Carolina First Center
in Greenville. The keynote speaker was former U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins of
Greenville.
On Aug. 27, Women's Leadership's Women Attorneys celebrated
the difference they are making in the community with a special night at The
Children's Museum of the Upstate.
On July 21 at Southside High School and on July 22 at Berea
High School, AAL members held round table sessions with small groups of
students to tell the students about themselves, explain their careers and allow
students to ask questions.

came together June 18 for the annual FANtastic Summer Celebration.
Attendees put their commitment to making a difference into action by
bringing portable fans to be donated to senior citizens in
need of cooling this summer.
The Young Philanthropists (YPs) held their annual YP Be a Bunny event March 27 at the home of Will and Marion Crawford. Guests brought Easter baskets to the event to donate
to children.
The “Reaching New Heights”
event celebrates donors who are reaching new heights of philanthropy by giving
at the upper levels of the Palmetto Society, and also
encourages others to strive to reach their own height of generosity.
