Quick and Easy Ways You Can Get Involved

  • Tell your friends about your involvement with United Way and what we do.
  • Write a letter to the editor on an issue affecting your community that you feel passionately about. United Way needs people who are passionate about school readiness, high school graduation and financial stability to make some noise.
  • Learn the language of public policy and advocacy.
  • Invite a speaker to your workplace to share their United Way story or take your group on a tour of one of our partner agencies. This is a great opportunity for people to hear and see first hand how their dollars work in the community.
  • Become a Loaned Executive. The Loaned Executive Program helps United Way keep fundraising expenses down and provides a great learning and growing opportunity for individuals ready to make a difference.
  • Cast your ballot. For information on voting in South Carolina, a list of federal and state candidates, or to locate your precinct's polling place, visit the South Carolina State Election Commission's Web site.  Remember these important dates for the 2010 election cycle:
      • June 8 (state primaries)
      • June 22 (state primary runoffs)
      • October 2 (deadline to register to vote in the general election)
      • November 2 (general election)
