United Way's Response to the Economic Crisis

The current economic situation in the World and the United States is making a very real impression in Greenville County. The current trends nationally in unemployment, home foreclosures, and access to credit are a present reality in Greenville County. Over the last six months the United Way of Greenville County has kept a careful eye on the situation and has taken several proactive steps in responding to the specific needs of the most economically challenged in your community. Tough Times Toolkit

Are you unemployed or facing unemployment in the near future? It’s not uncommon to feel helpless, frightened and that circumstances are beyond your control. This guide provides answers to questions and basic information on resources available in our community. Print copies are available by calling 2-1-1 and are located at the Employment Security Commission, One-Stop Centers, United Way partner agencies, Greenville County Libraries, and other community centers.

United Way 2-1-1 

Whether looking for help meeting basic needs like food and shelter, or seeking counseling to cope with the emotional effects of these challenging times, dial 2-1-1 to connect with a trained information and referral specialist.
