Women's Leadership "Wear One, Bring One" Event 2008

The 10th Annual "Women Make A Difference" luncheon was held September 16 at the Carolina First Center. This luncheon, commemorating women's philanthropic contributions to our community, also incorporates the "Wear One, Bring One" service project. Attendees brought new undergarments with them to the luncheon and the undergarments were then donated to a local emergency shelter for women. More than 700 sets of bras and panties were collected at this year's luncheon.

Dorothea Benton Frank, author of eight New York Times bestsellers including 2000's Sullivan's Island and 2008's Bulls Island, was the special guest speaker. Ms. Frank has been involved extensively in the arts and education, and in raising awareness and funding for various nonprofits in New Jersey and New York.
