In the spring of 2010, Women In Engineering formed out of the desire to do more for the community. After some exploring and focus meetings, this group has identified the perfect opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others by partnering with J.L. Mann High School's Project Lead the Way program.

Project Lead the Way is a national program offered to students at J.L. Mann's Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology. With an engaging, hands-on curriculum, Project Lead the Way is designed to prepare students for innovative careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Women in Engineering members share their experiences as female engineers with students in JL Mann High's Project Lead the Way program.

Working in conjunction with the school, Women in Engineering members will have the chance to participate in a variety of projects — from serving as guest speakers in the classroom to connecting with the female students as mentors and role models.  Each opportunity will help to encourage and support female students to pursue a career in math and science.

In March of 2011, Women in Engineering kicked off the project with a meet-and-greet social with the engineering students and school faculty.
