United Way Young Philanthropists Mentor of the Year

The YP Mentor of the Year Award recognizes individuals who have mentored members of United Way Young Philanthropists during their professional careers. Nominees should include someone in your business/professional life who has served as a wise and trusted counselor, an influential supporter, and/or an adviser in career and life. As a YP member, please consider nominating someone who has made a positive impact on your life.

Guidelines for nomination

Nominator (mentee) must be a current YP member*

Nominee (mentor) has served as a mentor for the nominator during his or her professional career or has the reputation for exceptional mentoring of young professionals in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Mentor must be a current resident of the Upstate

Nomination form must be completed in full and submitted by Oct. 15, 2011. If you complete and return the nomination form by Sept. 15, you will be entered in a drawing for one of 10 $50 gift certificates from Omaha Steaks.

Selection Process
- The selection committee is comprised of United Way YP members
- Mentors who are not selected may be nominated in future years
- Criteria for selection is based on:
- The impact the mentor has made in the mentee's business/professional life.
- The influence on the mentee's community involvement.
- The life lessons provided for improving and shaping the mentee's business, professional and personal life.
- The nature of the mentoring relationship.
- The characteristics of the mentor.
Recognition
Four finalists and their nominators will be notified in early December, 2011. The winner will not be announced until the event on Feb. 23, 2012.
The award will be presented at the TD Convention Center on Feb. 23, 2012, during the Michelin North America Mentor of the Year ceremony. One winner and three finalists will be recognized. |
