Young Leaders Society (YLS)

Young Leaders Building a Brighter Future.

United Way’s Young Leaders Society (YLS) is a network of engaged people under the age of 40 who share a passion for helping others and strengthening our community with United Way. YLS members connect through unique education and networking events, serve through hands-on volunteer opportunities and grow through innovative leadership programs.

With an annual gift of $1,000 ($500 for those under 30) to United Way of Greenville County, the YLS is built for young leaders, by young leaders.

Connect

Wake Up Greenville

A quarterly breakfast series highlighting different community issues and programs. This series aims to deepen your understanding of the work of United Way of Greenville County — and provides the chance to network with other young leaders.

The Great Conversation

The Great Conversation connects young professionals with influential community leaders and United Way advocates. Through these conversations, we foster powerful dialogue around philanthropy and civic engagement — and how giving back to our community can positively influence your career.

Social Gatherings

We host casual gatherings like cornhole tournaments and trivia nights, as well as our big annual celebration, to promote connections with other community-minded young professionals and celebrate our contributions to the annual United Way campaign.

YLS Annual Golf Tournament

YLS hosts a golf tournament each year to benefit United Way of Greenville County’s annual campaign. Check this space for details on the 2021 tournament.

Serve

YLS members meet regularly for volunteer projects to give back to the community we all call home. Popular opportunities include United Way’s annual School Tools program, Downtown Alive and Born Learning Trail installation and maintenance.

Grow

That’s My Greenville: Focusing on both leadership development and a deep exploration of community issues, That’s My Greenville leadership participants attend monthly sessions to build knowledge and aptitude. Upon completion, leaders will have clear pathways and competency to serve meaningfully in board service, volunteerism and civic engagement.
