Greenville County Schools supported through OnTrack
Some challenges are too complex for any one organization to solve alone. That’s why United Way brings partners together to align resources, remove barriers and move faster.
Through Greenville Together and OnTrack Greenville, we coordinate across systems to address root causes, not just symptoms — building progress that is shared, scalable and built to last.
OnTrack Greenville supports students facing barriers associated with concentrated poverty across five Greenville County Schools. In 2025, the initiative entered its tenth year and underwent a strategic recalibration to deepen its impact.
As federal Full-Service Community Schools funding came to a close, OnTrack shifted from direct program funding to serving as a backbone intermediary—strengthening coordination, aligning resources and supporting schools at a systems level. This evolution positions OnTrack to drive more sustainable, long-term outcomes for students and families.
Greenville Together is a coordinated, community-wide effort to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring in Greenville County. By aligning outreach, housing navigation and landlord engagement, the initiative is accelerating how quickly people move from crisis to stable housing.
In 2025, Greenville Together launched a targeted Housing Surge, rapidly expanding its reach and impact. Through strong partnerships and a focus on removing barriers, the system is working faster and more effectively than ever before.
Success story
Born and raised in Greenville, Mr. Chester has watched his hometown change over the decades. But 15 years ago, change came for him in the hardest way. When his rental property changed owners, he could no longer afford rent. With a severe medical condition and nowhere to turn, he found himself surviving on the street.
That’s when Greenville Together stepped in.
Through the collaborative network of partners, Mr. Chester found not just a roof, but real support — the kind that addresses housing and health together. His story is not an outlier. It is exactly the kind of outcome Greenville Together was built to make possible, one person, one household, one stable future at a time.
