Some challenges are too complex for any one organization to solve alone. That’s why United Way brings partners together to align resources, remove barriers and move faster.
Through OnTrack Greenville and Greenville Together, we coordinate across systems to address root causes, not just symptoms — creating progress that is shared, scalable and built to last.
HOSTED INITIATIVE
Education remains the strongest predictor of long-term financial stability, yet too many students in Greenville County faced daily barriers that put graduation at risk. In 2025, OnTrack Greenville worked shoulder-to-shoulder with schools, teachers and community programs to identify those students early and connect them with the support they needed to stay on track.
Our partnership with Greenville County Schools progressed through the Early Warning Response System, a district-wide tool that flagged students falling behind in academics, behavior or course completion so intervention could happen before a small setback became a larger one.
And the work went far beyond data.We invested in students and the educators who championed them through teacher appreciation events, senior send-offs and mentorship opportunities that extended what any one school could offer on its own.

Greenville Together was created to do what no single organization can do alone: unite an entire community around solving homelessness. Through outreach, housing navigation, landlord engagement and deep cross-sector partnerships, the initiative creates the connections and solutions that move people from crisis into stable housing.
In 2025, Greenville Together launched a targeted effort to move more people from crisis into stable housing — rapidly expanding its reach by building new relationships and dismantling the barriers that stand between someone and a roof over their head.
GREENVILLE TOGETHER
For nearly a year, Jason, Suzanne and their three children called their car home — spending long nights searching for safe, quiet places to sleep and long days doing homework at the library. One evening, a police officer checked on the family and connected them to Greenville Together. That single connection changed everything. Today, the Thurmans are settled in an apartment where they rest safely, share home-cooked meals, bake cookies and simply live like a family again.
GREENVILLE TOGETHER
Born and raised in Greenville, Mr. Chester has watched his hometown evolve over the decades. But 15 years ago, when his rental property changed owners, he could no longer afford rent. With a severe medical condition and nowhere to turn, he found himself surviving on the street.
That’s when Greenville Together stepped in.
Through the collaborative network of partners, Mr. Chester found not just a roof, but support — the kind that addresses housing and health together. His story is exactly the kind of outcome Greenville Together was built to make possible, one person, one household, one stable future at a time.
GREENVILLE TOGETHER
Once without a home, Neil and Sherry now help others find one.
Neil and Sherry stood by each other through years of homelessness — facing uncertainty, hardship and long nights without a place to call home. Through it all, they never let go of each other. Today, they are home. And they are doing something remarkable with their new beginning. As volunteers with Greenville Together’s Lived Experience Council, Neil and Sherry are using their own journey to help others find a path off the street and into stability. They know better than anyone that sometimes all it takes is one hand reaching back.
