Signature Moments of Giving

Throughout the year, our community comes together in powerful ways: from Greenville’s largest day of service to programs that meet needs in every season. Through Hands on Greenville Day, School Tools and Project Joy, neighbors of all ages step in to support one another, proving that when we show up together, we make a lasting impact.

GIVING BACK EVENTS: hands on greenville day

This Is What Community Looks Like.

Hands On Greenville Day 2025 brought together more than 2,000 volunteers across Greenville County for the largest single-day volunteer event in the Upstate. Serving as a powerful intersection of corporate engagement and community volunteerism, the day united people around a shared commitment to strengthening our community. From revitalizing parks and painting classrooms to supporting local nonprofits, HOG Day 2025 created lasting impact across Greenville County.

GIVING BACK EVENTS: SCHOOL TOOLS

Backpacks, Big Hearts and Bright Futures

In 2025, School Tools helped ease the financial pressure that comes with back-to-school season, giving families a big reason to smile. United Way, alongside the donors and sponsors of School Tools, provided students with fully loaded, grade-appropriate backpacks stocked with everything from notebooks and folders to supplies most families wouldn’t expect. We saw it firsthand — students lighting up as they picked out their bag and discovered what was inside.

GIVING BACK EVENTS: PROJECT JOY

Every child, seen. Every wish, answered.

Project Joy is built on a simple belief, that every middle and high school student in Greenville County deserves to feel seen during the holidays. Through trusted relationships with school guidance counselors, United Way connects students in need with donors, volunteers and community partners who make sure every child has a special holiday. In 2025, Project Joy expanded to reach all 37 Greenville County middle and high schools.

When a family saw Project Joy featured on the news, they donated $15,000 to sponsor every remaining student on the list. That single act of generosity allowed volunteer shoppers to deploy immediately and ensure every child was covered on time.
