United Way of Greenville County promotes Beasley, Scales

United Way of Greenville County recently promoted Courtney Beasley to Chief Marketing Officer and Lee Anne Scales to Vice President of Corporate Giving.

Beasley’s promotion comes after joining the organization as Vice President of Marketing in Oct. 2020, after spending 10 years in Chicago working in marketing roles in the B2B sector. Her role quickly evolved more strategically to include operational process and structure. In addition to the development, execution and evaluation of marketing, public relations and communication strategies, her leadership now extends to integrated technology, project management, volunteerism and sponsorships.

“It became clear shortly after Courtney joined us that her role would encompass more than we originally envisioned,” said Meghan Barp, president and CEO of United Way of Greenville County. “She has dedicated her work to growing United Way’s message within our community, and we’re excited to have her leadership within our organization.”

Beasley graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Public Relations. Her philanthropic endeavors include serving as a sitting board member for Harmony, Hope and Healing in Chicago, and cabinet member for the University of Dayton’s external campaign. She was also recently invited by The Greenville Drive to be a steering committee member for the inaugural Innovation & Entrepreneurship Night event, set to be hosted at Fluor Field for the first time this summer.

Scales transitions from her role as Workplace Relationships Director to her new leadership position with United Way. She began her career with the organization in 2012 and has steadily grown her responsibilities to now lead the entire Corporate Giving team.

She brings a true passion for fundraising to her position, which includes developing a strategic focus on United Way’s campaign development and increasing corporate engagement within the community to meet the needs facing Greenville County’s most vulnerable neighbors.

Scales graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies. She is also a Riley Fellow, a graduate of the Riley Institute at Furman’s Diversity Leaders Initiative Class XXIX. Her volunteer efforts include helping to deliver Meals on Wheels in Greenville and coordinates a delivery route for participating United Way employees.

“A Greenville native, Lee Anne brings to her new role a unique sense of understanding of our community, combined with a desire to build lasting change through fundraising,” said Josh Sims, chief development officer for United Way of Greenville County. “Her proven leadership during her time with United Way has generated trusted relationships and increased opportunities for companies to become more involved supporting the needs facing our community.”
