United Way welcomes new members to board of directors

United Way of Greenville County has welcomed nine community leaders to serve new three-year terms on its volunteer board of directors.

They join a 38-member board that serves as the governing body of United Way of Greenville County, the largest poverty fighting organization in the Upstate. The new directors are Yobany Banks-McKay, UPS; David Foster, LocalIQ; Lee A. Gill, J.D., Clemson University; Tami McKnew, Fox Rothschild LLP; Ryan McLaughlin, UBS; Charles McManemin, Fluor Corporation; Adam Murphy, Michelin North America; Dr. Saria Saccocio, Prisma Health-Upstate; and Katy Pugh Smith, Greenville Partnership for Philanthropy.

“Each member of this diverse group of volunteers brings unique knowledge, experience and perspective to our organization, and most importantly, they have a heart for helping others and a commitment to seeing all of Greenville County thrive,” said United Way of Greenville County President and CEO Meghan Barp. “We’re thrilled to have them join the board and look forward to the great things we can accomplish together for our community.”

Yobany Banks-McKay, UPS
Banks-McKay serves as the Director of Inside Sales of UPS in Greenville. She started her career with UPS as an international account executive in 1992 in Southern California. She was president of the National Hispanic Business Women Association from 2010 to 2012. Born in the Dominican Republic, she was the first in her family to earn a college degree. She now serves as Vice Chair of the 2019 United Way Campaign.

David Foster, LocalIQ
Foster is the Regional Vice President of Sales for LocalIQ Southeast Region including The Greenville News/Asheville Citizen Times/Anderson Independent. He has been with the company since 2015 and has lead sales teams in multiple geographies and through many industry transitions. He is a native of England and has lived in the U.S. since 2003.

Lee Gill, Clemson University
Gill is the Chief Diversity Officer and Special Assistant to the President for Inclusive Excellence at Clemson. He has 20 years of private and public sector experience working with major corporate executives, law firm executive committees, hospital administrators, and college presidents. Gill serves on numerous boards of directors including the Upstate Urban League, NCORE (National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education), the National Conference of Artists and Hispanic Alliance.

Tami McKnew, Fox Rothschild LLP
A long-time United Way volunteer, McKnew has served in a variety of positions with United Way, including as chair of the board of directors in 2012. She’s an award-winning attorney specializing in the areas of franchising, dealerships, antitrust and intellectual property.

Ryan McLaughlin, UBS Financial Services Inc.
McLaughlin serves as the Branch Office Manager for UBS Wealth Management in Greenville. Prior to joining the UBS Greenville office, Ryan spent 8 years in UBS's Home Office in Weehawken, N.J. In addition to her service on the United Way board, she is a member of the National Advisory Council for her high school, The Harpeth Hall School, in Nashville, Tenn.

Charles McManemin, Fluor Corporation
McManemin is the general manager of Fluor Corporation’s Greenville office. Since joining Fluor in February 2002, McManemin has served in multiple positions within Fluor Corporation, within projects, sales and business development. In his most recent position he served as the director of the office of the chairman at Fluor’s headquarters in Irving, Texas.

Adam Murphy, Michelin North America
A graduate of Furman University, Murphy was appointed Vice President of the Business-to-Business Marketing Organization of Michelin North America, Inc. in January 2018. Previous roles include Vice President of Marketing for the Michelin Americas Truck Tires division and Marketing Director for Michelin in Canada.

Dr. Saria Saccocio, Prisma Health-Upstate
Saccocio was appointed Ambulatory Chief Medical Officer and Department Chair of Family Medicine for Prisma Health-Upstate May 2017. Her leadership supports clinical integration, population health, business health, outpatient quality and patient safety, and resident and medical student education. Her expertise in population health, leadership, including advancement of women leaders, has allowed her to serve as a keynote speaker at multiple national forums. She previously served on United Way Campaign Cabinet.

Katy Smith, Piedmont Health Foundation, Greenville Partnership for Philanthropy
Katy Smith, MSW, has served as Executive Director of Piedmont Health Foundation since 2005. She brings more than 20 years of experience in community planning and nonprofit strategy to the policy and systems focus of the foundation. She also leads the Greenville Partnership for Philanthropy, a network of philanthropic funders in Greenville County.
