By the Numbers: How VITA Volunteers Made a Difference This Tax Season
Every tax season, United Way of Greenville County’s VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program relies on the dedication of trained volunteers who give their time to help hardworking community members file their taxes accurately and at no cost. This year, we had the privilege of gathering those volunteers together to celebrate their impact and share the results from the 2026 tax season.
A Season Worth Celebrating
The VITA Volunteer Celebration brought together the people who make this program possible. The event honored volunteers at the 1, 5, 10 and 15-year milestones through Years of Service Awards, recognizing the long-term commitment that makes VITA such a trusted resource in our community.
The Numbers Tell the Story
The results from the 2026 tax season speak for themselves. Our 8-county VITA Coalition brings together partners serving Anderson, Cherokee, Horry, Greenville, Lancaster, Oconee, Spartanburg, and Union Counties. Coalition partners include Anderson Interfaith Ministries, United Way of Horry County, United Way of Lancaster County, United Way of Oconee County, and United Way of the Piedmont, which serves Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union Counties. The coalition’s results reflect the impact of these organizations and represent the combined tax returns completed across the eight-county service area.
