United Way of Greenville County’s School Tools returns Saturday, August 1, 2026. This summer, we’re working to put fully stocked backpacks in the hands of more than 3,000 Greenville County students, and we need your help to make it happen.
This year we're asking our community to do the shopping. Use our grade-specific supply list to stuff a backpack — or as many as you'd like — and drop it off at United Way of Greenville County.
• 105 Edinburgh Court, Greenville
• Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
• Fridays: 8:30 a.m.–noon
• Drop-offs accepted through July 24
Prefer to let us handle it? A financial gift allows us to purchase and stuff backpacks to fill any gaps so every child we serve walks in ready to succeed.
We need hands on deck before and during the event.
• Pre-event: Join us at the United Way office for 2-hour sorting and packing shifts. Dates to be announced.
• School Tools Day: Volunteers needed from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. at Carolina High School.

This year we’re asking our community to claim backpacks through Hands On Connect so we know exactly how many to expect. Log in with your existing account or sign up for free — it takes just a minute and it’s the best way to stay connected, track your impact and browse all of our volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
Last year, the parking lot at Carolina High School overflowed — not just with cars and a winding line of families, but with hope. See how Greenville showed up for its students and what your support made possible.
