Seven Greenville County women are one step closer to achieving their career goals thanks to the support of United Way of Greenville County’s Women United.
For more than 15 years, Women United has invested in women who are working to build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Since launching the Jobs to Careers Scholarship in 2010, the program has helped women pursue education and training in high-demand fields including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, computer technology, business, accounting and more. Not only do our recipients receive assistance with their tuition and books, but they also can get help with expenses for common barriers to success like transportation and childcare.
For the first time this year, Women United partnered with the Greenville Chamber Foundation’s of Commerce’s TalentRiseSC, an initiative working to remove barriers to education and career growth. The group recently presented $10,179 in awards to seven women, providing financial assistance as they continue education and training to advance their careers. This year’s recipients are:
AMANDA ANDERSON DAVIS
Educational Path: Bachelor’s degree in business at Lander University
Career Goal: Leadership opportunities in property management, community engagement, corporate social responsibility, or affordable housing program management.
ANIQUA PRITCHARD
Educational Path: General education requirements at Greenville Technical College with a pathway to complete an associate degree in nursing at Allegany College of Maryland
Career Goal: Labor and Delivery RN
TAMMY SIMS
Educational Path: Pharmacy Technician Certificate at Capstone Career Development Center
Career Goal: Pharmacy Technician
MONET JOHNSON
Educational Path: General education requirements at Greenville Technical College with a pathway to Licensed Practical Nursing diploma at Spartanburg Community College
Career Goal: LPN
DAMARIS FORD
Educational Path: Bachelor’s degree in human services at Lander University
Career Goal: Nonprofit employment that helps others understand that their past does not define their future.

Members of Women United volunteered with this year’s scholarship recipients to pack backpacks and sort supplies for United Way’s School Tools project.
“We are so proud to be able to award this year’s scholarships to a diverse group of strong women with big dreams,” said Women United Council Chair Donnice Wilkerson. “By investing in women’s education and career advancement, we can positively influence the lives of our scholars and their families, while advancing economic mobility across our community.” The Jobs to Careers Scholarship is about more than financial support. Each scholarship recipient is paired with a member of the Women United Council who serves as a mentor throughout their educational journey. These mentors provide encouragement, guidance and a trusted support system as recipients navigate school, career planning and the challenges of balancing work, family and education.
