Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to fighting for equal rights, representation and access for all. At United Way, we draw inspiration from his legacy in our mission to build a stronger, more equitable Greenville County.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service, United Way hosts an annual MLK Day of Service to give our supporters and the community at large an opportunity to make a difference across Greenville County.

Our MLK Day of Service will take place on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, with neighborhood cleanups across Greenville County. We’ll be partnering with Greenville County, and the cities of Greenville, Simpsonville, Greer, Fountain Inn, Mauldin and Travelers Rest—as well as the NAACP, League of Women Voters and Students in Action to promote voter registration at each cleanup site.

We look forward to sharing more about our plans for this day of service soon. Be sure to check back for announcements and how you can get involved.

In 2023, nearly 200 volunteers rolled up their sleeves on MLK Day, spreading mulch and removing 9,920 pounds of trash from streets and community parks. Click here to learn more about the impact made that day.
