Greenville County Schools + United Way: A Partnership for the Ages

United Way of Greenville County’s partnership with Greenville County Schools goes back more than 40 years and remains one of our most vital as we begin our second century of service.

Not only do United Way donors support students through programs like OnTrack Greenville, School Tools and Project Joy, but the nearly 11,000 employees of the school district return that support by generously investing in United Way through the annual workplace campaign. In 2022, Greenville County Schools posted the third largest giving campaign for United Way.

In 2015, the district was awarded the United Way Spirit Award for Organizational Leadership for its partnership on the Middle Grades Success initiative, which eventually produced OnTrack Greenville. In 2020, Greenville County Schools became the first organization to win two Spirit Awards when Joe Urban and the district’s Food And Nutrition Services department was recognized for its heroic work for students and families during the Covid-19 quarantine.
