Hands On: Economic Mobility Volunteer Series

When we announced our 2021 Hands On: Economic Mobility Volunteer Series, we were hopeful for the impact we could make together across Greenville County — but we were blown away by how this community showed up!

Nearly 800 volunteers joined donors and community partners to support local students and teachers, create pathways to employment for those looking to enter or re-enter the workforce, and address food insecurity in our community.

With your support, we:

  • Collected over 3,000 meals for families in Greenville County
  • Received 380 completed graduation cards to celebrate our Class of 2021
  • Raised $1,800 to offset out-of-pocket expenses for local teachers.

1. OnTrack Greenville: Navigating Education in a Post-COVID World
Presented by Canal Insurance Company

Led by OnTrack Greenville Executive Director Dr. Edward Anderson, this conversation focused on how OnTrack has supported our schools and our students through a very different and difficult year, including the launch of our SchoolCNXT app, mentoring opportunities and community resource drive-thrus.

You can watch the full presentation here.

2. Celebrating Seniors: Card Writing for Greenville County Grads
Supporting Sponsors: Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices C. Dan Joyner, REALTORS

To celebrate the hard work and perseverance of the Class of 2021, we called on our community to complete graduation cards for seniors at our OnTrack schools. Nearly 400 cards were collected to show Greenville County graduates some well-deserved love.

Thank you to our sponsors at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices C. Dan Joyner, REALTORS and card writing host sites Cohesive Coffee and Starbucks.

3. Support the Teachers Fund

Teachers spend an annual average of $500-$1,000 out of pocket to purchase items for their classrooms. To help offset these expenses for Greenville County teachers, we launched the Support the Teachers Fund and raised $1,800. You can still give to the fund here.

4. Virtual Opportunity Fair

Thank you to our volunteers and sponsors at Fluor Corporation, First Palmetto Bank, GE, Insight Global and ITW Hartness.

5. Food First Community Food Drive
Presented by UPS Inside Sales | Supporting Sponsors: GE, Harris Teeter, JTEKT North America

Nearly 64,000 people in Greenville County are considered food insecure, and over 75 percent of households receiving food assistance have children under 18. To address food insecurity in our community, we held our Food First Community Food Drive on Friday, May 28.
